This page was inspired by
Phillip Johnson's book,
"Defeating Darwinism
by Opening Minds". Early in
the book he points out that the media owns the microphone and so what
the world at large knows of the question of the age of the earth, origins
and evolution is what gets through the media filter. Mr. Johnson
encourages his readers to see the movie, "Inherit The Wind"
which is Hollywood's interpretation of the Scopes trial. The
message it conveys is an excellent illustration of the power of the
media and the bias that exists in that industry.
This writer has had personal experience with administrators,
teachers, school board members, committees and newspapers where the
subject of science as it relates to origins is concerned. Almost
every stage of the process was significantly influenced by who owned the
microphone. And where the establishment discovered that they did
not have tight control of it, measures were put in place to see that it
would not happen again. The entire experience was very eye
opening.
The owners of the microphone do not hesitate to employ the maneuvers
described on the Tactics page of this web site and more.
Verifiable facts are ignored, questions are left unanswered, all
challenges to evolution are repelled by labeling them religion (even
when they are scientific), and so on. But eventually the truth
will win. Mr. Johnson makes the case that the philosophical corruption
of good science is more of a hold over from the last century than a
leading indicator of the new.
